This class is an exploration of the role gender and sexuality play in major institutions such as the media, economy, family, education, and politics in American society today. The class will lay particular emphasis on the intersection of gender, sexuality, race, class, and age in shaping contemporary inequalities. Major theoretical approaches to gender and sexuality will also be introduced. Prerequisite: SOC& 101 or instructor permission. (SS)
